What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident Manager / Guest Experience Lead position at The Stranger Lodge?
The Stranger is hiring a live-in Resident Manager / Guest Experience Lead to help run a small, experience-forward lodge opening in Sisters, Oregon in Spring 2026.
This is a full-time, hands-on role for someone who enjoys responsibility, autonomy, and caring deeply about both people and place. The Resident Manager / Guest Experience Lead is the primary on-site presence and plays a key role in shaping what it feels like to stay at The Stranger.
This role blends guest interaction, operations, housekeeping, and property care. You’ll welcome guests, keep rooms spotless and ready, respond to issues with care and calm, and ensure the property runs smoothly day to day. Some days are busy, some are quiet, and the work is essential.
A few important things to know up front:
• This is a live-in role with a private on-site apartment
• The apartment is approximately 360 sq ft and designed for single-occupancy living
• Housing and utilities are part of the compensation package
• Weekend work is required, with two consecutive days off midweek
• Cleaning and care-based work are core parts of the role
• Summer is busy and hands-on; the off-season is slower and focused on systems and events
This role is well-suited for someone who is self-directed, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and genuinely enjoys creating thoughtful, welcoming experiences. Prior hospitality experience is helpful but not required. Strong judgment, consistency, and pride in fundamentals matter most.
Compensation & benefits include:
• Salary: $30,000–$35,000 DOE
• Free on-site housing utilities
• Contribution toward health insurance and cell phone
• Life in a small mountain town with immediate access to nature
If you’re looking for a place-based role with real responsibility, trust, and the opportunity to help shape an experience-forward hospitality business, we’d love to hear from you.
