The Steward School is seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented Middle School Dean of Students for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time, 10.5-month Middle School Administrative position with full benefits, reporting directly to the Director of Middle School.

- Maintains commitment to the Mission and Philosophy of the School in programs, policies, and curricula
- Serves as a member of the Middle School Administrative Team and represents the middle school at school-wide events, parent meetings, and social events as requested.
- Partners with colleagues to guide student conduct, support social-emotional development, and help students navigate the complexities of adolescence with accountability, care, and respect by demonstrating visible, active leadership in the daily life of the Middle School.
- In coordination with the Division Director, the Dean of Student Engagement and Support, and Grade-Level Coordinators, oversees day-to-day disciplinary issues and works closely with students and faculty to ensure compliance with school policies while leading all disciplinary investigations with dignity and confidentiality in a way that is grounded in the school's mission and values and ensures that infractions are teachable moments.
- Communicates clearly and in a timely fashion, both verbally and in writing, with students, families, and appropriate school personnel regarding any disciplinary event or consequence. Keeps accurate records regarding disciplinary infractions and consequences.
- Teaches the Problem-Solving Seminar to one grade level in the Middle School.
- Monitors student attendance and alerts families with attendance concerns.
- Oversee advisory programming and execution in partnership with members of the Middle School team.
- Oversee Middle School Student Council Association, Spirit Committee, and Dance Committee, and help plan and chaperone student events.
- Assigns and oversees Community Time, lunch, and dismissal duties for Middle School faculty.
- Manages sign-up process and oversees student-created clubs.
- Oversee the planning and organization of grade-level Community Weeks, in conjunction with Grade-Level Coordinators.
- Assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
- A Bachelor's degree with middle school teaching and leadership experience, with a Master's degree preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; the ability to support students and families through challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
- A strong desire to work in a collaborative learning environment employing a growth mindset and participating in ongoing professional development; the desire and ability to develop an atmosphere of trust and knowledge of students as individuals.
