Licensed Behavioral Specialist/BCBA

Licensed Behavior Consultant (BC) *Licensed Required or in process of license for this position* is a person who devises and oversees treatment planning for a child or adolescent with mental health diagnosis who has been prescribed Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) with Applied Behavioral Analysis.

Qualifications:

• Employee must possess one of the following: LCSW, LSW, LPC, LMFT, LBS (Behavior Specialist License) or equivalent license

Behavior Consultant of Applied Behavioral Analysis (BC-ABA) *Licensed Required or in process of license for this position* is a person who devises and oversees treatment planning for a child or adolescent who has been prescribed Applied Behavior Analysis treatment.

Qualifications:

• Employee must possess one of the following: LCSW, LSW, LPC, LMFT, LBS (Behavior Specialist License) or equivalent license

And have in addition:

• 12 credits in coursework completed in Applied Behavior Analysis from an accredited school/university

or

• 40 hours of trainings in approved Applied Behavior Analysis field and at least one year supervision provided by a BCBA or someone holding an Applied Behavior Analysis graduate level certificate

or

• Phd in Psychology and 40 hours training in Applied Behavior Analysis

Job Responsibilities:

• Complete intake paperwork with families
• Complete an assessment where indirect assessments are used to assess what behaviors are occurring and gain parental/school input on behaviors. Indirect assessments are standardized where the clinician asked questions on the assessment and write down the answer given by the parent/guardian
• Observe behaviors and complete a functional analysis to assess why behaviors are occurring in each setting. A functional analysis is completed by conducting observational sessions (where the clinician watches what occurs) and take data on what is occurring with the problem behaviors in the natural environment. The clinician will be trained to conduct assessments, collect data, and complete documentation.
• Develop treatment planning to work on behavioral modification. Treatment plans include goals to address problem behaviors, criteria the client has to meet to be successful in goals, and interventions going to be used to create behavior change.
• Facilitate interventions to create behavior change and meet goals in treatment plan. Various interventions will be used and are individualized to clients and environmental resources. Examples could be visual schedules, token economy, verbal praise, verbal/gestural prompting, first then charts, etc.
• Oversee a bachelors level staff implementing interventions. A behavioral consultant may have a BHT (behavioral Health Technician) on their case who will be doing the daily implementation of interventions outlined in the treatment plan.
• Collaborate with families, schools, daycares, and other environments to implement interventions.
• Track progress on goals and review with parents and other supports
