Service Manager Refrigerated Trailers

The Service Manager will oversee all aspects of the service department. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality repairs, efficient operations, and superior customer service. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader who can effectively manage and develop a team of technicians while remaining hands-on to support diagnostics, repairs, and training when necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of transport refrigeration and heavy-duty trailer technicians to achieve department goals in safety, quality, and productivity.
• Oversee daily operations of the service department, including scheduling, workflow management, quality of repairs, and repair prioritization.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with manufacturer standards and company policies.
• Provide hands-on support and training in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and actual repairs of reefer units, APU’s, and heavy-duty trailers if needed.
• Conduct technician training, reinforcing proper repair techniques, and company standards.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including labor efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
• Manage work orders, and customer invoices.
• Collaborate with parts, sales, and administrative teams to ensure smooth interdepartmental communication and operations.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
• Drive continuous improvement through process evaluations, technician feedback, and performance reviews.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in transport refrigeration service (Carrier / Thermo King) and or heavy-duty trailer service.
• 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management role
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills; able to perform hands-on repairs and lead by example.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to train and mentor technicians with varying levels of experience.
• Strong organizational and computer skills; experience with service management software preferred.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
