About the Company

Schuermann Analytics is a Tulsa, OK-based systems integration firm specializing in SCADA solutions for municipal water and wastewater plants, designing the control and data infrastructure utilities use to monitor, automate, and remotely manage plant operations. In April 2026, the company was acquired by Scruggs Company, adding SCADA and systems integration capability to Scruggs' municipal water and wastewater platform.


About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Instrumentation & Controls expert to support the design, implementation, maintenance, and management of industrial control and monitoring systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PLCs, instrumentation, electrical controls, and project execution, preferably within water and wastewater treatment environments.


Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, program, and support PLC-based control systems.
  • Program complex control strategies in a variety of different PLC architectures.
  • Implement SCADA applications and user interfaces.
  • Configure and support field instrumentation.
  • Assist with electrical and controls design including:
  • Analog and digital signaling systems
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • PLC and control panel integration
  • Common instrumentation (pressure, flow, level, etc)
  • Analytical instrumentation
  • Develop and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
  • Utilize AutoCAD or similar software to create and revise technical drawings and schematics.
  • Support water and wastewater treatment systems, including biological and chemical treatment processes.
  • Manage projects from initial planning through commissioning and closeout.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, operators, and internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Perform system testing, startup, calibration, and field troubleshooting.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards, operational procedures, and project requirements.


Qualifications


  • Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving and analysis skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control systems.
  • Experience with electronics and electrical circuits associated with automation and control systems.
  • Working knowledge of communication architectures (serial, network, radio, etc).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, or industrial automation platforms.


Preferred Skills


  • Experience in water and wastewater treatment processes, including biological and chemical treatment systems.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Technology, or related field.
  • Equivalent hands-on experience and technical expertise demonstrated will be strongly considered in place of formal education.
  • AutoCAD experience and ability to create technical schematics.


This position may require:


  • Working in confined spaces
  • Lifting and moving heavy equipment or components
  • Climbing ladders and crawling in industrial environments
  • Working in hot, cold, wet, or noisy conditions
  • Good manual dexterity for handling small components and wiring
  • Adequate vision for reading schematics, troubleshooting, and precision work


Work Environment

This role involves a combination of office, shop, and field work at industrial and municipal facilities. Occasional travel and after-hours support may be required depending on project schedules and operational needs.
