What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Manager position at The Sterling Choice?
Regional Safety Manager – Manufacturing & Distribution
Salary: Up to £115-130K
Location: Queens, NY
Most safety roles talk about “culture change” and “influence.”
This one genuinely gives you the space — and the support — to make it happen.
These sites aren’t broken, but they are ready for stronger structure, clearer processes, and a leader who can bring consistency across the network. This is a role for someone who enjoys shaping, guiding, and elevating safety standards — not just maintaining them.
Where the Journey Begins
The foundations are there. The teams care. What’s needed now is focus, alignment, and renewed energy.
You’ll step into a position where:
- Some processes need tightening.
- Documentation and reporting need refreshing.
- And the sites are looking for someone who can bring clarity and direction.
Across five locations (one high-activity production site and four lower-risk distribution centres), you will:
- Strengthen compliance and documentation so everything is accurate, clear, and accessible.
- Refresh core programs such as LOTO, emergency response, wastewater, waste management, and audit routines.
- Introduce sustainable systems that make safety easier to follow — not harder.
- Rebuild engagement, helping teams reconnect with the “why” behind safe operations.
- Provide guidance when it matters, acting as the trusted point of contact during key situations.
- Shape a people-first culture through coaching, training, and everyday leadership presence.
This isn’t fixing chaos. It’s building maturity.
What This Role Grows Into
With strong foundations in place, the role evolves into one centred on leadership, influence, and continuous improvement:
- You’ll move from managing tasks to designing approaches.
- You’ll embed habits that stick, not rules that fade.
- You’ll become part of how the business thinks, not just how it complies.
Your impact becomes long-term — both operationally and culturally.
Who Thrives Here
- Someone with EHS experience within Manufacturing or Distribution environments.
- Someone who sees safety as partnership and enablement, not policing.
- Someone who enjoys bringing structure to complexity and guiding teams through change.
- Someone comfortable travelling (up to 50%) and building relationships across different sites.
- Above all, someone who wants to help a good operation become a great one.
What You’ll Gain
- A salary up to £120K for the right experience.
- Leadership that genuinely supports and understands the value of strong safety practices.
- The room to build — and own — a safety program you can be proud of.
- A role where the culture you create will be felt long after the work is done.
If you’re ready to lead a journey — not just manage a checklist — this is your opportunity.
Step in and help shape the next chapter.
