What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Manager position at The Sterling Choice?
Quality Manager
Food Production
Location: Houston, TX
Salary: $100,000 - $115,000
You’ve probably seen food safety done two ways. The box-ticking version that keeps auditors happy but changes very little. And the version where quality actually shapes how a site operates, how people think, and how food is made every single day.
This role is about the second version.
You’ll step into a large, fast-moving food manufacturing environment where food safety sits right at the centre of operations. The systems are established, the team is in place, and the expectations are high — but there is real scope for you to put your own stamp on how quality is led, communicated, and lived across the facility.
You will lead a small FSQA team, working closely with operations, suppliers, and site leadership to make sure food safety and quality are not just compliant, but genuinely embedded into the culture of the site. That means overseeing training, inspections, audits, documentation, and continuous improvement while also being visible, approachable, and credible on the floor.
What makes this opportunity particularly attractive is that the business is genuinely open to developing someone who is ready to step up. If you’re currently a strong FSQA Supervisor with solid technical foundations, leadership potential, and the right mindset, this could be your chance to move into a full manager role with real responsibility and support behind you.
You’ll act as the SQF Practitioner, maintain food safety programs, lead internal and supplier audits, and ensure regulatory readiness. Just as importantly, you’ll coach and develop your team, setting clear expectations, holding people accountable, and helping them grow alongside you.
To enjoy this role, you’ll need a solid grounding in food safety within a regulated environment, HACCP and PCQI certification, and confidence working in a high-volume, operational setting. Experience with SQF is helpful, but what matters most is your ability to influence people, communicate clearly, and drive standards without creating friction.
If you’re the kind of FSQA professional who cares deeply about doing things properly, enjoys leading people, and is ready for the next step in your career — this could be a brilliant move.
Let’s talk in confidence.
