Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) - School

The Stepping Stones Group is looking for caring Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN) for a school-based position in Cranston, RI for the 26/27 school year. This is a full-time, private duty/1:1 nurse position supporting a medically involved student.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Active LPN License in Rhode Island
• Current BLS CPR/AED certification
• Pediatric experience required
• Demonstrated competency in the specific skills required for the assigned student, including seizure management/rescue meds, Tube feedings, Oxygen and airway management, Medication administration, lifts, toileting and hearing aid care
• Must be comfortable with replacing GT independently if needed
• Ability to safely implement physician orders and care plans within LPN scope of practice
• Compassionate, clinically strong nurse with experience caring for medically complex pediatric patients and the ability to confidently provide independent nursing care in a school environment
• Preferred: School-based nursing experience

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Maintain continuous observation of assigned student throughout the school day
• Administer daily G-tube feed; Will be responsible for assessing area, checking placement, implementing any orders for feedings/medications, provide PRN GT/GJ-T care.
• Daily medication, toileting, lift from wheelchair, rotation of AFO splints, emergency medication for seizure disorder, care of hearing aids, and support with educational needs
• Communicate significant status changes to family, school staff, and clinical leadership
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Help maintain a safe, health focused school environment
• Daily attendance is extremely important for this student. If student absent, LPN would help in the building with other medical students.
