Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Cybersecurity Coach to join our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) school team. The Cybersecurity Coach will be responsible for educating and inspiring young students to understand and practice fundamental principles of cybersecurity. This role involves designing engaging and age-appropriate curriculum, conducting interactive lessons, and fostering a safe digital learning environment for kids. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in cybersecurity, excellent communication skills, and a passion for nurturing young minds in the field of technology and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Curriculum: Create a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate curriculum for teaching cybersecurity concepts to kids of varying age groups within the STEM school.
- Interactive Lessons: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that make cybersecurity concepts accessible and fun for young learners.
- Practical Exercises: Design hands-on exercises, simulations, and activities to help students apply cybersecurity principles and develop essential skills.
- Digital Safety: Educate students on the importance of online safety, responsible digital behavior, and the potential risks associated with the internet.
- Cyber Hygiene: Teach good cyber hygiene practices, including password management, safe internet browsing, and email etiquette.
- Ethical Hacking (Optional): For older students, introduce the concept of ethical hacking in a responsible and age-appropriate manner.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that all students feel safe and comfortable while exploring cybersecurity concepts.
- Assessments: Develop and administer assessments to gauge students' understanding and progress in cybersecurity.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in cybersecurity to provide relevant and up-to-date information to students.
- Parent Communication: Establish open communication with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress in the cybersecurity program.
- Mentoring and Support: Offer guidance and support to students who show a keen interest in pursuing a career in cybersecurity, including providing resources and encouragement for further exploration.
- Safety Protocols: Implement safety protocols and ensure students follow best practices when engaging in cybersecurity activities.
Qualifications:
- Degree/Certification in cybersecurity, computer science, or a related field. A degree is not required however strong knowledge of the principles and practices of the profession are a must.
- Experience in teaching or mentoring children, preferably in a STEM or cybersecurity-related context.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in interacting with children.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to make complex concepts understandable to young learners.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and platforms.
- Ethical mindset and a commitment to promoting responsible digital behavior.
- Relevant certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., CompTIA Security , Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)) is a plus.
