The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Bridge Maintenance, has a full-time vacancy for a Senior Engineer.
SUMMARY :
To supervise the operational functions of the Bureau of Bridge Maintenance and perform responsible administrative and supervisory duties associated with the policies and procedures in the absence of the Bureau Administrator. All accountabilities must be performed in accordance with State and Department rules and policies, including risk management, safety and environmental standards, regulations and administrative orders.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in civil engineering, or possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in civil engineering and possession of a Master of Business Administration degree from an accredited institute of higher education.
Experience: Three years of experience in civil engineering post Professional Engineer licensure.
OR
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in civil engineering.
Experience: Five years of experience in civil engineering post Professional Engineer licensure.
OR
Education: Associate's degree from an accredited institute of higher education, with a major study in civil engineering technology.
Experience: Seven years of experience in civil engineering post Professional Engineer licensure.
License/Certification:
1. Valid driver's license
2. Professional Engineer (PE) License
Other Requirements: Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assists the Bureau Administrator in planning, directing and supervising all activities of Bridge Maintenance including developing, implementing and monitoring Bridge Maintenance programs. Performs research related to the maintenance, repair and replacement of state owned bridges, the installation of temporary bridges and repair and widening of existing bridges to eliminate traffic hazards.
Develops, prioritizes and compiles work schedules for future projects, reviews project status, provides technical advice, recommends repair methods and coordinates repairs with other bureaus and agencies.
Prepares and analyzes operating budgets for Bureau Administrator's review. Approves and monitors Bureau expenditures.
Supervises equipment inventories, drafts budgets, recommends needs and specifications, and oversees the procurement of Bureau equipment.
Maintains, analyzes and generates reports of Bureau repair activities, performance measures and integrates activities into management systems.
Provides bridge maintenance support to other bureaus, agencies and state municipalities, including providing estimates, presentations and the coordination of repair work.
Directs, supervises and implements Bureau bridge design and repair standards and assures quality control and safety standards.
Resolves personnel matters as directed by Bureau Administrator and coordinates the overall training of engineering and supervisory staff.
Secures all required project related environmental and historic permits and clearances from federal and state agencies.
Responds to emergency situations, at any time, to provide engineering and technical direction and advice regarding bridge repairs, temporary bridge design and installation and construction projects to subordinates, state and municipal officials and acts as the Department bridge liaison for Emergency Management.
