Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position’s main responsibility is as the cashier for the clinic and will be responsible to collect all cash (Cash/Receipt Handling) receipt from patients. Cashiers input payment types of cash, check, credit card, invoice and payment vouchers and are responsible for compiling and preparing various financial reports daily. Cashiers are responsible for individual cash variances and credit card billing errors. Cashiers assure that customers are treated with respect and courtesy and dissatisfied customers are afforded the opportunity to discuss their concerns. Always promote customer service excellence through "patient first'' approach at all times. Secures translation assistance for patients needing our services. Collects, registers, verifies, and inputs all pertinent client information in all systems modules: Client Registration, Family Financial, Insurance Information, and records CSR's with accuracy. Utilize plans web portals to verify members' enrollment and eligibility. Maintain client confidentiality and security of medical records in accordance to HIPPA and Information Security Act. Working knowledge operating photocopy machine, calculators, cash register, computer, printers, scanners and all related equipment required by position. Sees that patient wait time is minimized as much as possible. Registers and maintains client records in computer data files and electronic health records. Inform patient of calculated fees and answers questions as to how fees are set. Verifies authorizations for Medicaid reimbursement and enters third party insurance information into the financial data file to maximize revenue collections. Maintains client confidentiality and security of EHR in accordance with SLCHD Security Procedure 13, 1.8. Level 2: "Clinical Confidentiality". Answers the telephone, schedule client appointments, reschedules and /or follows up missed appointments by phone or text, and makes reminder phone calls if necessary. Sees that patient wait time is minimized as much as possible. Registers and maintains client records in computer data file and medical record. Research client demographic information and updates per visit. Performs other related duties as required and serves as back up for any position in Accounts Receivable Department and provides translations on requests.

This position also serves as the deputy registrar for the vital statistics office. The deputy registrar is Responsible for the daily functions of the local vital statistics program in compliance with all mandated laws, rules, and procedures in accordance with Chapter 382 of the Florida Statutes, Section 64V of the Florida Administrative Code, and the CDR Operations Manual. This is a highly responsible position requiring independent judgement providing operational and management coordination for the activities of the St Lucie County Health Department Vital Statistic Office. Work is performed under the technical direction of the CHO Administrator, who is the Local Registrar, and under the routine supervision of the CHD Administrative Services Director I. Serves as Deputy Registrar for St. Lucie County Vital Statistics office. The major roles of vital statistics involve: (A) Issuance of birth and death certificates, to include receiving proper identification and applications and timely processing of mail-in requests. (8) Review records for accuracy, process, and store in accordance with policies and procedures and transmit them two times per week. (C) Adhere to the strict guidelines for handling all security paper, including maintaining a secure physical area and proper logs for daily use of security paper. (D) Provide state-directed updates in conjunction with the CDR to local funeral homes and funeral directors. (E) Maintain a supply of necessary VS forms and reference materials. (F) Deal with the public and government agencies in a courteous manner in performance of daily activities. Activities include answering telephones, providing general information to the public about the vital statistics program, accurately maintaining cash drawers and receipts, and running the daily cash receipts report. Run weekly, monthly, quarterly Vital Statistic reports. (G) Help with quarterly reviews and the annual self-assessment tool to ensure proper operating processes are in accordance with established guidelines, rules, and procedures. Ensure every EBRS facility (includes hospitals and birthing centers) submits a weekly Hospital Reconciliation Report; Verify within e-Vitals that a record has been entered for every delivery at that facility; Confirm that no record has been entered into e-Vitals without there being matching record on the report. (I) Monitor EDRS records for deaths occurring in their county and ensure filing times are met. Follow-up on any records more than 12 days old. Provide training and assistance to midwives, funeral directors, Noncompliant Physicians, Medical Examiners, Family Members acting as own funeral home, and Home Births in connection with the preparation and filing of vital records. Review of records for completeness and accuracy before acceptance

Assist with records requests. Communicates administrative, clerical and accounts receivable policies and procedures. Trains other employees as required. Completes employee activity records, timesheets, and other reports according to procedure and within required timeframes. Prioritizes work assignments. Performs related work as required. Submits travel, invoices or receives in MFMP in accordance to FS 215.422 prompt payment statute. Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to understand and properly apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to all departments. Capability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and use problem solving techniques. Skill to operate personal computer and maneuver technical programs such as Microsoft Windows, Office 360, e Vitals, IDvlS, ect... ability to use office equipment, 10-key adding machine, copier and fax. Knowledge of standard business formats and styles for letters and business forms. Knowledge of office procedures, medical terminology CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, involving various situations. Ability to handle telephone calls in a courteous and effective manner. Aptitude to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments

Qualifications:
Required Minimum:
High School Diploma or an equivalent GED required.

Availability to work beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.

2 years of customer service experience

Preferred:
At least 1 year working in the medical field.

Knowledgeable of CPT and ICD-10 coding guidelines

2 Years of Cash Handling Expertise

Proficient in speaking, writing, and reading any other languages besides English.
