Overview:

The Starz Program is a franchise children’s fitness enrichment program that provides dance, cheerleading, and sports/fitness classes to children on-site at schools serving children ages 2-12. The Starz Program started in Virginia Beach over 20 years ago with locations across the country - and is growing quickly!

We are seeking a part-time Regional Director to lead, support, and scale our program across multiple locations on the east coast, including our Richmond, VA and Washington, D.C. locations. This role is responsible for overseeing a team of part-time Area Managers and ensuring that each location is meeting its performance goals, delivering high-quality programming, and an excellent customer experience.

The Regional Director can set their own schedule, expecting to work approx. 20 hours per week Mon-Fri between the hours of 9am-5pm, and will need to be available and extremely responsive to their Area Managers. The Regional Director can perform most work remotely from home, while quarterly travel will be required to each location to provide in-person leadership and support to Area Managers and their teams. The Regional Director can be based out of Richmond VA, Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., Virginia Beach, or nearby areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Directly supervise, coach, and support a team of part-time Area Managers overseeing multiple Starz locations.
  • Work closely with Area Managers to ensure that each location is meeting its performance goals. Performance metrics may include partnership growth, partnership retention, class sizes, and staff retention.
  • Foster a positive, mission-driven culture that promotes collaboration, positivity, accountability, and high-quality programming.

Staffing

  • Ensure that each location is fully staffed with high-quality instructors at all times.
  • Recruit and hire new instructors for each location by managing online job posts, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions with Area Managers.
  • Support the Area Manager with onboarding, training, offboarding, and team culture.

School Partnerships

  • Drive the growth of each Starz location by leading the recruitment and onboarding of new school partners in each location. This may include creating a target lists of schools, sending outreach emails, making cold calls, and conducting in-person school visits to advertise the program.
  • Serve as a trusted leader in the region and an additional point of contact for local school and community partners to ensure high customer satisfaction.

Other Duties

  • Manage program databases, employee payroll, customer billing, and order class equipment.
  • Represent the organization at regional events, conferences, and on monthly Starz franchise calls.
  • Join weekly calls with the Area Owner to discuss business metrics and updates for each location.

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have a passion for Starz's mission.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 3 years experience in program management, ideally in the education, youth enrichment, or non-profit space.
  • 3 years of experience in people management, preferably managing college students or young professionals.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel across the region regularly; valid driver’s license required.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to lift and carry class equipment and supplies up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, bend, squat, raise arms above head, run short distances, and move around a classroom or similar type space to teach fitness classes and monitor students without limitation.

Pay: $20/hour seasonal bonuses and incentives
