About The Standard Electron Company
Our mission at Standard Electron is to quietly build the industrial energy infrastructure for civilization to scale on— scalable, reliable and permissionless.
We believe the grid as it exists today is outdated, brittle, and unequal — and will not keep up with the next century of energy demand growth, ultimately slowing down economic growth and collective prosperity.
We aim to fix this by building a fundamentally new architecture for power generation and delivery that doesn’t use grid wires. One that is modular, mobile, and resilient by design. Power as a product, not a service.
Our first product is a high-performance, containerized and integrated solar battery system that can is manufactured at scale, deployed directly to customer sites, and managed remotely via software. We already have more than $250m demand from some of the world’s largest energy consumers in real estate, mining, telecommunications, infrastructure and advanced manufacturing.
We are on target to have working units deployed in the field by spring 2026.
The Opportunity
At Standard Electron, you won’t be optimizing spreadsheets or tuning software widgets — you’ll be designing the electrical nervous system for the next century of civilization. The systems you build will replace the grid, power the most remote and demanding operations on Earth, and one day provide the backbone for human life beyond Earth.
If you want safe, predictable, and incremental, this is not the place. If you want to work with a small group of people who are betting everything on solving one of the hardest and most important problems in the world — and you’re ready to move fast, face the abyss, and build something that outlasts us all — you have found your new home.
You will own designing, testing, building and integrating our power electronics and system orchestration stack. This will be a high leverage, interdisciplinary role where you’ll be expected to make first-principle decisions, move fast, and ship working systems:
- Lead end to end electrical design of our first product line, to be deployed early 2026.
- Sourcing, testing and integrating all major power electronics subsystems including solar arrays, MPPT, DC/DC buck/boost, inverters, BMS, battery systems and switches and wiring/connection points. Making trade-offs on cost, performance, availability.
- Designing and integrate system-level orchestration: PV harvesting and MPPT coordination, balancing multiple DC/DC converters on a shared bus, scheduling battery charge/discharge, dispatching inverters, enforcing zero-export control, prioritizing critical loads, handling faults gracefully, and ensuring telemetry and remote control work seamlessly.
- Ensure our system our safe, reliable, manufacturable, and certifiable — safety as an absolute first principle, 99.99% uptime target in the field, compliant with UL/NEC/IEEE, and designed for fast, repeatable deployment.
- Working hand in hand with our design and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integrations of all our subsystems with reliability, performance and rate scaling as key considerations to all design choices.
What We Are Looking For
- First and foremost, people who care deeply about the mission — to scale civilization through energy expansion. We are missionaries not mercenaries.
- Top percentile work ethic and people who want to be the best at whatever they do. This mission requires us to be maniacal in focus and effort.
- People who are deeply interdisciplinary—comfortable working across domains.
- People who thrive with extreme accountability and ownership—no one is coming to save us, our success hinges on us being excellent.
- People who thrive in uncertainty and move fast with limited resources.
- People who can leave their egos at the door. Greatness comes from humility - always learning, listening and earnestly collaborating. This mission is too important to suffer assholes.
- People who understand that changing the world will come with many challenges — especially from the status quo and will never stop fighting.
