What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Director at The Stage School (Summer Camps) position at The Stage School?
The Stage School is currently seeking a Production Director/Drama Instructor for our upcoming Summer Camp production of "Legally Blonde: The Musical Jr." The camp is held in Park Ridge, IL.
Camp is held Monday - Saturday, from 9 AM - 3 PM. Performances take place on the Saturday of camp. Instructors will be required to stay till the end of the performance on Saturday to assist with student check out. Camp dates are:
Monday, July 20-Saturday, July 25
Campers range in age from 6 to 16. Currently camps are limited to 20 students per age group, with a total of 60 campers per session.
The Production Director/Drama Instructor will be responsible for:
- Blocking all scenes and staging non choreographed musical numbers
- teaching students of many experience levels and preparing students to give their best performance
- Leading large group rehearsals in a Director's role
- teaching general drama technique and theater skills through fun and engaging games and activities
- working with the production team to ensure all camp/production needs are addressed
- assisting backstage during performance, and with set up and strike as needed.
Ideal teaching candidates will
- be motivated, energetic, and organized
- have a strong professional background in the performing arts
- have experience teaching children ages 6-16
- have experience teaching drama for and rehearsing musical theater
- have a passion for teaching life skills to young people through the performing arts.
Please note, the camp location is not easily accessible by public transportation. Reliable transportation is required.
