What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Education Teacher position at The Springs Montessori School?
The Springs, A Montessori School in Springfield, VA is hiring for a Physical Education (PE) Teacher for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the school administration.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Design and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that teach physical fitness, sports skills, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
- Instruct students in various physical activities, games, and fitness exercises, helping them develop strength, endurance, coordination, and flexibility.
- Ensure a safe and clean learning environment for all physical activities and manage classroom behavior.
- Collaborate with other teachers to coordinate efforts
Additionally, when not actively teaching PE, the successful candidate will support the remainder of the classrooms as needed/directed by the school administration.
Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in a Montessori school setting before.
The position starts immediately.
Position Requirements:
- At least 6 months of experience in Early Childhood Education is preferred
- Experience in a Montessori environment is highly preferred
- Excellent professional references
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Creativity and imagination
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and dedication to maintaining a professional environment
- Must be comfortable managing large groups of children.
- Candidates with up-to-date CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration Training are also preferred.
- Must be able to work until 6:00 pm
- Must have a love of young children
