Job Description
The Floor Artist is the energy keeper and experience guide in our studios. You ensure that our customers receive a fun, liberating and creative experience with outstanding customer service. Floor Artists are expected to work in an efficient manner that maintains the flow of the studio and sessions. This is a fast paced, on your feet, messy role. As a Floor Artist you will be on your feet, moving and creating a high energy, fun experience for our guests during the sessions and a clean, stocked, well maintained studio during our non-session hours. In addition the Floor Artist will follow, and adhere to company standards as well as support and respect the corporate management, marketing and ownership teams.
Unique, Outstanding Customer Service: Floor Artists are to ensure all guests are taken care of in a genuine way with exceptional customer service. This is accomplished by:
- Welcoming each and every guest with enthusiasm and compassion while ensuring they feel included in the experience from the moment they walk into the studio up to the moment they have left the studio.
- Offering and suggesting our add on options to enhance the guest’s experience
- Setting the session stage by giving each guest a detailed demo, making them comfortable with the experience, tools, gear and process
- Engaging with the guests during their session to offer help, encouragement and cheer them on.
- Providing instructions on departing from the studio and care instruction for their painting when bringing the guest their take home boxes or pick up cards.
- Answering the phone with an upbeat, pleasant attitude, being informative with your communication knowing that the experience begins the moment we speak with a potential guest.
- Understanding how to operate FareHarbor and Square including monitoring the booking flow for your shift, making reservations, checking guests in, rebooking, cancellations, add on charges, checking guests out and issuing gift cards.
- Ensuring guests are in the know of upcoming events The Splatter Studio is hosting in the current quarter
- Requesting and obtaining positive google reviews for your unique, outstanding customer service
Physical Tasks: Ensure responsible completion of tasks assigned to you by your Shift Lead or Manager which may include but are not limited to any of the following:
- Mixing paints / Cleaning & refilling paint carts and paint bottles
- Stocking all necessary supplies
- Setting up / breaking down/ cleaning up stations
- Filling and changing out water buckets
- Properly washing tools
- Lifting boxes and putting shipments away
- Daily cleaning and weekly steaming of the floors
- Daily cleaning and weekly steaming of bathrooms
- Always maintaining a safe and clean environment
- Ensuring reception area is trash free, clean and presentable for guests before the beginning of each session
- Taking out trash to the dumpster
- Setting up and cleaning up for private parties
- Helping keep break room clean by cleaning up your mess immediately after use
- Helping keep inventory organized, put up and out of the way
- Helping track inventory by putting items in the proper area and notifying your manager when any items are low on stock.
- Making take home boxes / refilling unwrapped canvas backup boxes
- Any assigned downtime tasks
- Picking up on any tasks that are needed to ensure full collaboration with co-workers and team.
- Serving drinks to customers (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) which requires a RBS certification (paid by The Splatter Studio)
Brand Representation: As a Floor Artist you are a brand ambassador for the studio by representing The Splatter Studio Brand with in depth knowledge of who we are, what we offer, our information and our media presence.
- Who we are: company history, inspiration, values, goals. You need to know why we do what we do!
- What we offer: Our experience, services & products including proper descriptions and pricing of sessions, parties, events, add-on products and policies. You need to know what we do!
- Our Information: Full knowledge and ability to communicate your studio hours, phone number, website, social media handles, email addresses, physical address, ability to give directions, contacts, refund policy, kid policy, shipping information, and any other pertinent information.
- Our Media Presence: As a Floor Artist you are in the midst of the action and capturing these fun moments for our guests and our social media is something we will request from you. All photos taken are property of The Splatter Studio and are to be uploaded to our shared dropbox by shift end. We also encourage you to post on your social media if you are inclined. Please speak with your manager about this and get approval of any post that includes The Splatter Studio before posting.
Availability Expectation: These are the minimum availability requirements for employment with The Splatter Studio as a Floor Artist under each category.
Full time: Requires open availability a minimum of 6 days a week for a minimum of 6 hours shifts.
Part time: As a part-time floor artist at The Splatter Studio you are expected to be available for a minimum of 4 shifts and must be available for a minimum of one closing shift.
Weekend Only: Must be available for full days on both Saturday and Sunday each week.
Flex: In the event you request to be a flex in addition to your current schedule, we require you to be available to pick up shifts with only a 3 hour notice. This can be for a variety of shifts and may be due to increased bookings, co-worker calling out due to emergency or sickness or due to other studio needs. It is important that you keep in mind that the flex position is an unpredictable position and does require flexibility. If you turn down 3 shifts within a 90 day period you will no longer be eligible for flex shifts. Flex shifts are incentivized and will be assigned based on studio needs. Your manager will discuss availability of flex options with you and incentives that go with this unique and important role.

- Note: Your availability when hired is the availability that met the studio needs. If you change your availability after hire, it will affect the studio and may no longer meet studio needs. While we understand life changes, it is very important to communicate with your manager to ensure your new availability will be aligned with the studio needs before making any permanent changes to your availability in Square. Keep in mind limiting your availability may impact hours scheduled or our collaboration all together. Unless approved in advance and in writing by your manager be advised that changing your availability without approval may disqualify you from employment with The Splatter Studio.
Compensation: We are pleased to offer each Floor Artist a base hourly rate plus the opportunity for tips and commission. You are eligible for tips and commissions beginning your first shift on the floor.
- Base hourly: The Splatter Studio gives you a competitive hourly rate to ensure that you are compensated for all hours worked in the studio. This is the rate given to you by your manager at time of hire.
- Tips: All Floor Artists are eligible to receive tips. Tips are pooled and divided by everyone on the floor then added to your paycheck on a biweekly basis. If cash tips are given, your manager or shift leader will split cash tips equally between all members working the floor and report to management what was received and by who which will be recorded in the cash tip log.
- Commission: The Splatter Studio pays 10% commission on all add on sales made. Commissions are paid biweekly on your paycheck.
*Note: Keep in mind that tips and commissions can add up and increase your paycheck. We want each of our employees to benefit from our pay structure. We also believe that there should be a controllable factor. Tips and commissions give you this control. By selling guests add ons to enhance their experience and providing outstanding customer service you get the opportunity to add significantly to your base hourly pay.
