JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this classification is to perform manual work functions associated with general
maintenance, repair, landscaping, and groundskeeping of parks and recreation facilities. Reports
to the Parks & Recreation Director.
- Performs a variety of manual, semi-skilled, and skilled maintenance, inspection, and
- Maintains athletic fields and related facilities and playground equipment for recreational
- Maintains parks facilities such as restrooms, concession stands, picnic shelters, and other
- Installs, maintains, and replaces playground equipment and fences; assembles tables,
- Performs ground maintenance to include mowing grass, blowing leaves, pruning or
trimmings onto truck, picking up trash and blowing or sweeping debris off parking lots
and sidewalks and assist with snow removal as season dictates.
- Performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment, and tools
- Utilizes precautionary safety equipment and monitors work environment to ensure safety
- Prepares or completes various forms, correspondence, reports, timecards, maintenance
- Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, the public, and other
information, or resolve problems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; supplemented by two (2) years of related experience; or any
equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite
knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Licenses or Certifications:
State of Georgia Driver’s License.
Special Requirements:
Requires an acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history
check and an acceptable driving record. This position is deemed safety-sensitive and is subject to
random alcohol and controlled substance testing.
- Knowledge of building and park maintenance methods and practices.
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, standard cleaning methods, turfgrass maintenance

- Skill in ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery,

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is moderate work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Work requires
regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically
involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and
crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy
objects and materials. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or
shades of colors, sounds, taste, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks
require the ability to communicate orally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an outdoor environment. Performance of essential functions may require
exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness,
humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents,
traffic hazards, toxic agents, disease, or pathogenic substances.
