Duties
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, and mobility exercises, to promote independence and functional recovery
- Implement treatment plans designed by occupational therapists, ensuring adherence to prescribed interventions and goals
- Help facilitate therapy sessions for pediatric populations, adapting techniques to meet specific age-related needs
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment activities, and care plans in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimal outcomes
- Assist with medical imaging procedures or assessments when necessary as part of the overall therapeutic process
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) from an accredited program
- Prior experience working in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient hospital units, outpatient clinics, or home health settings preferred
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and occupational health principles
- Experience assisting with ADLs across diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics
- Knowledge of care plan development and implementation tailored to individual patient needs
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to therapy assistance
- Ability to work effectively in inpatient and outpatient environments while managing multiple priorities
