Job Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Community Services Specialist. The Community Services Specialist plays a crucial role in proving direct support and assistance to individuals with cognitive disabilities, mental illness and other barriers to independent living within the employment and home based hab services. This position works closely with participants to promote skill development, community integration, and successful employment outcomes.
Responsibilities
Provide Direct Support and assistance to individuals participating in employment and supported community living services.
Assist participants in developing and practicing daily living, social, and job readiness skills.
Support Participants in accessing community resources, recreational opportunities, and social activities.
Provide job coaching and support to workplace participants, including training on the job tasks and accommodations as needed.
Document participant progress, behaviors, and interactions accordingly to program requirements and standards.
Maintain a positive and supportive relationship with participants, families, employers and community partners.
Adhere to program policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of participants and compliance regulatory standards.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a related field.
- Knowledge of Iowa regulations and standards governing employment and supported community living services.
- Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CPR or first-aid certificate (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- High School Diploma or equivalent (bachelor's degree in human services or related field preferred)
Pay: $17.00 - $18.50 per hour
