What are the responsibilities and job description for the Millwright Planner position at The Spear Group?
We are hiring a Millwright Planner for our Rahway, NJ site. This is an on-site role supporting sitewide millwright maintenance, installation, and alignment activities.
This person will act as the technical planning lead for millwright work across the site. The role includes managing millwright work orders in SAP, developing detailed job plans, coordinating tools, rigging equipment, and materials, and serving as the SME for millwright-related technical questions. This is a strong fit for someone with deep hands-on mechanical knowledge and experience coordinating complex maintenance work.
Key qualifications:
- 10 years of millwright or heavy mechanical maintenance/installation experience
- At least 2 years in planning, scheduling, or coordination preferred
- Experience using SAP or other CMMS systems
- Strong knowledge of machine alignment, couplings, bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, base grouting, structural repairs, and rigging/lifting practices
- Ability to develop job plans, rigging/lifting plans, manpower estimates, and material lists
- Pharmaceutical, laboratory, or highly regulated facility experience preferred
- Journeyman millwright certification, mechanical trade qualification, or equivalent hands-on experience strongly preferred
