JOB DESCRIPTION
The position of Transit Scheduling and Dispatch Specialist performs administrative, operations, and clerical work under general supervision of the Transit Dispatch Lead. Responsibilities include program specific data entry, transit trip scheduling, intake of client information (phone, text, email, etc), and dispatch/communication to and from Transit Operators.
Essential Functions

1. Reviews and corrects trip data.
2. Extracts information from various databases for reporting.
3. Answers telephones provides general information to the public, enters information into scheduling software.
4. Operates trip scheduling functions within trip scheduling software.
5. Receives and relays information to Transit Operators.
6. Receives and relays information to Operations Managers.
7. Compiles general correspondence, maintain files and program documentation.
Work Requirements
Ability to execute critical knowledge, skills and abilities to perform required Essential Job Functions:
- Knowledge of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and scanners.
- Some knowledge of program policies, procedures and eligibility guidelines.
- Ability to understand and implement oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Accurate, detailed keyboard entry capability required.
Additional Work Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to travel and attend local, regional, and national meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and scanners.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday.
Travel
Travel to service area counties and training. Occasional travel to conferences and training seminars.
Required Education and Experience
1. Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent GED.
2. Additional course work in office management, accounting or data entry.
3. Experience in data entry and working with the public or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
