The Source is looking for freelance writers who specialize in a variety of areas including the local music scene, food, outdoor recreation and culture. Articles can be submitted weekly, bi-monthly or monthly depending on your desire. All topics must be based in Central Oregon. As a freelancer, you must have knowledge about your topic; conduct interviews; fact check, meet timely deadlines and provide photos with each story. Topics or themes may be assigned to you based on special editions of the Source or generated by you. Pay is based on experience.
The Source is an alt weekly, independent, community-based newspaper.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research and interviews on assigned topics to ensure accuracy and depth of content.
- Write, edit, and proofread articles, ensuring adherence to AP style.
- Fact-check information to maintain credibility and reliability in all written materials.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
Qualifications
- Proven writing and editing skills with a strong command of grammar and style.
- Experience in proofreading and copy editing to ensure high-quality content.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with AP style.
- Strong research and fact-checking abilities to produce accurate and credible content.
- Background in journalism or technical writing is a plus.
