Job Summary:
The Pastry Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality desserts, baked goods, and pastry items in a fast-paced, full-service kitchen environment. This role ensures all pastry items are executed to recipe specifications, presented consistently, and prepared safely while maintaining a clean and organized workstation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and bake pastries, desserts, and other sweet items according to recipes and presentation standards
- Execute daily production for items such as breads, cakes, cookies, plated desserts, and specialty items
- Set up and stock pastry stations with necessary ingredients and supplies
- Maintain consistency in quality, portioning, and visual presentation
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines
- Operate kitchen and baking equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist with decorating and plating desserts for service
- Support menu development with creativity and attention to detail when needed
- Assist with prep work, inventory rotation, labeling, and storage of ingredients
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Support the team during peak service periods while maintaining a positive attitude
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous pastry or baking experience preferred (professional kitchen experience a plus)
- Knowledge of baking techniques, dessert preparation, and pastry fundamentals
- Ability to follow recipes with precision and consistency
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
