Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, ovens, and mixers
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards
- Assist with meal preparation for daily service, catering events, or special functions
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely service
- Follow food handling procedures to ensure safety and quality control at all times
- Support inventory management by rotating stock and notifying supervisors of supplies needed
Requirements
- Prior experience in food service, restaurant kitchens, or dietary departments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, including slicing, chopping, and cooking methods
- Strong understanding of safety standards in food production and handling practices
- Ability to follow recipes precisely and adhere to meal presentation guidelines
- Excellent knife skills and slicing techniques for efficient prep work
- Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and ensure a cohesive kitchen environment
- Familiarity with dietary aide responsibilities or dietary department experience is a plus
- Passion for culinary arts with a focus on food safety management and quality assurance
