Job Summary
This position plays a vital role in the mission of The Shoulder. The Counselor is responsible for providing clinical services to their assigned caseload. The Counselor develops treatment plans to ensure that each client on their assigned caseload is receiving appropriate clinical services. The Counselor is to utilize evidence based practices to provide clinical intervention for clients on their caseload.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family counseling, or other related field. (Preferred)
- Must have a certification in substance abuse counseling or licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (L.P.C.) or Licensed Certified Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) within thirty (30) months from date of hire.
- Preference will be given to those with experience in providing clinical services to those struggling with substance use disorder.
- Be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must be proficient with computer operations to include MS Outlook, Word, and other software products. Must be able to demonstrate ability to complete documentation of clinical records in electronic health record system.
Job Duties
- Maintaining certification and credentials as required by the Alabama Department of Mental Health.
- Perform Assessments on potential clients.
- Manage assigned caseload according to agency standards of practice and clinical philosophy.
- Utilizing established protocols to hold clients accountable for being in compliance with rules and regulations established by the program.
- Developing treatment plans in collaboration with clients.
- Utilization of evidenced based practices to implement interventions.
- Completing, at a minimum, one individual session per week with each person on caseload.
- Facilitation of group sessions in accordance to established clinical schedule.
- Facilitation of family therapy and family group as needed.
- Completing documentation in a timely manner in compliance with the standards set by the Alabama Department of Mental Health.
- Facilitating communication with outside referral sources and third parties in compliance with established privacy standards.
- Developing behavioral contracts for clients who are non-compliant with program rules and regulations.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings.
- Actively participate in clinical supervision and seek out opportunities for professional growth.
- Develop discharge plans for each client and complete discharge summaries.
- Work together with other employees utilizing a team approach to accomplish the overall mission of The Shoulder.
- Treat all clients and staff with dignity and respect.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $47,000.00 per year
