Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our multidisciplinary team. The SLP will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders in students. This includes supporting receptive and expressive language development, social communication skills, articulation, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). TThe ideal candidate will be collaborative and familiar with behavior-based approaches, including prompt-based therapy techniques, and will work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent and effective support.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment & Planning:- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and feeding evaluations to identify individual student needs.
- Develop individualized goals as part of each student’s IEP in collaboration with school-based teams.
- Recommend and implement appropriate therapeutic strategies, including AAC and prompt-based interventions when appropriate.
- Therapeutic Interventions:
- Provide direct speech-language services in individual and small group settings in accordance with IEPs.
- Address expressive/receptive language, articulation, voice, fluency, pragmatic language, and AAC.
- Incorporate prompt-based therapy techniques as appropriate to support communication development.
- Provide support for feeding challenges, including oral-motor skill development and safe feeding strategies under the guidance of appropriate clinical protocols.
- Adapt and generalize therapeutic interventions to the classroom and daily school environment.
- Data Collection & Reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, evaluations, progress reports, and communication logs.
- Track and report on student progress in alignment with IEP timelines.
- Ensure compliance with all school and regulatory requirements regarding speech-language services.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to integrate communication strategies into instructional routines.
- Provide training and consultation to staff on AAC use, speech-language strategies, and feeding support.
- Participate in IEP meetings and team planning sessions to align therapy goals with educational programming.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and recommendations for home-based support.
Physical Requirements and Essential Functions:
Engage with students at their physical level, including sitting on the floor or at child-height tables.- Assist with feeding and oral-motor activities as appropriate and within scope of practice.
- Move between classrooms, therapy spaces, and cafeteria areas as needed.
- Lift and carry therapy materials or devices (up to 35 lbs).
- Maintain consistent visual and auditory supervision of students during therapy sessions.
- Must have or be willing to obtain current First Aid and CPR certification.
Qualifications:
Required: Master’s Degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology.- Required: Current NYS certification in good standing.
- Required: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a school or clinical setting, preferably working with neurodiverse student populations.
- Experience with feeding therapy and prompt-based techniques strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in AAC systems and knowledge of school-based communication supports.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and school staff.

Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
