Position Summary

The Shipping Post is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Operations Specialist to help lead the daily operations of our locally owned shipping, printing, and business services stores.

This is more than a retail or customer service position. Our Operations Specialists are trusted team members who help ensure the store operates smoothly every day. They are key holders, problem solvers, technology troubleshooters, administrative specialists, and customer service leaders who help create an outstanding experience for every customer.

What You'll Do

Customer Service

  • Deliver friendly, professional, and personalized customer service.
  • Assist customers with UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL shipping services.
  • Help customers with printing, copying, scanning, faxing, and mailbox services.
  • Recommend the best shipping and business solutions for each customer's needs.
  • Resolve customer concerns with professionalism and confidence.
  • Build lasting relationships with customers by providing exceptional service.

Store Operations

  • Open and close the store independently.
  • Serve as a trusted key holder responsible for daily operations.
  • Balance registers and complete daily closing procedures.
  • Prepare bank deposits.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store.
  • Monitor inventory and supplies and communicate ordering needs.
  • Ensure store policies and operational procedures are consistently followed.
  • Help maintain high operational standards throughout the store.

Administrative & Business Operations

  • Prepare and submit lost and damaged package claims with UPS, FedEx, USPS, and other shipping carriers.
  • Communicate with customers throughout the claims process and provide timely updates.
  • Process applications and required USPS documentation for new private mailbox customers.
  • Maintain accurate customer records while handling confidential information with professionalism.
  • Complete operational paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Assist with filing, reports, recordkeeping, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Follow established procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Technology & Problem Solving

  • Troubleshoot printers, computers, scanners, and shipping software.
  • Learn and utilize PostalMate and other business systems.
  • Resolve routine technology issues before escalating them.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and customer service.
  • Think independently and solve problems while maintaining excellent customer service.

Team Leadership

  • Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and a positive attitude.
  • Assist with training and mentoring new team members.
  • Support coworkers during busy periods.
  • Help foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented workplace.
  • Take ownership of the store when working independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of customer service, retail, office administration, banking, hospitality, shipping, or similar experience.
  • Previous experience opening or closing a business is preferred.
  • Comfortable learning multiple computer systems and technology.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Notary Public certification (or willingness to become one) is a plus.

Expected Pay: $16.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
