What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Specialist position at The Shipping Department?
We’re looking for an energetic, detail-oriented team member who loves helping people and isn’t afraid to get hands-on!
What You’ll Do
- Assist customers with packing and shipping through UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL
- Create custom packaging, including building boxes from large sheets of cardboard (templates provided — sometimes this means working on the floor)
- Provide exceptional customer service with a friendly, professional attitude
- Handle packages safely and routinely lift/move up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Manage mail sorting for private mailboxes (physical & digital)
- Offer fax/copy services and support retail sales
- Adapt to a variety of daily tasks in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
What We’re Looking For

- Ability to adapt quickly to new situations and challenges
- Reliability and punctuality
- Availability during business hours (M–F, 9:00–5:30) primarily from 12pm-5:45pm
