What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Principal - Special Education Program position at The Shield Institute?
Educational administrator to work collaboratively with the school leadership team, overseeing special education preschool and school-age programs .
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree and hold or be eligible for certification as a School Administrator.
Candidates must possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, and be proficient in developing and monitoring individualized educational plans (IEPs). The ideal candidate has knowledge and experience in behavior management strategies and interventions for students with special needs. Experience with student data collection and analysis.
Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives. Strong computer skills and ability to learn new technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office proficiency with Excel and spreadsheets, OneDrive, and Google Classroom).
Experience working with teams with expertise in promoting a positive and supportive environment. Must be able to build community relationships and work collaboratively with District Representatives.
Must be able to respond quickly to the needs of children and parents’/guardians' requests.
Knowledge of Creative Curriculum, NYSAA, and Next Generation of Standards is a plus.
