Grounds Keeper

Summary

The Groundskeeper will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of our site, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our staff, residents, and visitors. This position involves a variety of tasks, including lawn maintenance, weed eating, trash disposal, and site-wide grounds maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Mow and trim lawns regularly to maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance.
• Perform lawn edging to create defined boundaries around flower beds, walkways, and other landscaping features.
• Oversee the application of fertilizers and pesticides as needed to promote healthy grass growth.
• Identify and eliminate weeds, overgrowth, and invasive plants from designated areas.
• Safely operate weed eaters, trimmers, and other equipment to maintain the edges of lawns, pathways, and landscape borders.
• Collect and dispose of litter, debris, and waste from designated areas.
• Empty trash bins and maintain a clean and litter-free environment throughout the site.
• Inspect and maintain landscaping features, such as trees, shrubs, and flower beds.
• Prune and trim plants to ensure a well-kept and visually appealing landscape.
• Install and maintain irrigation systems as required.
• Assist in the upkeep of parking lots, walkways, and common areas, including snow removal in winter months.
• Ensure that all grounds keeping equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and stored in good working order.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the Maintenance Manager.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries while operating equipment.
• Adhere to environmental and safety regulations, including proper handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials.
  
  

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in grounds keeping, landscaping, or a related field.
• Knowledge of lawn care equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ability to operate and maintain various tools and equipment safely.
• Familiarity with landscaping techniques, including planting, pruning, and weed control.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and attractive environment.
