About the RoleThe Secondary English Teacher (Grades 6–12) is responsible for designing and delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that prepares students for academic success and postsecondary pathways.
This role requires a strong instructional foundation, data-driven planning, and the ability to build relationships that support student growth both inside and outside the classroom.
You will report to the Assistant Principal and collaborate closely with instructional and student support teams.

Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned English/ELA instruction
- Develop lesson plans that meet diverse learning needs
- Integrate literacy strategies across content and skill levels
Student Achievement & Data
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction based on data
- Prepare students for standardized assessments and college readiness
- Provide timely, actionable feedback to students and families
Classroom Culture & Management
- Establish a structured, respectful, and academically focused classroom environment
- Reinforce school-wide expectations and behavior systems
- Build strong relationships while maintaining clear academic and behavioral standards
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, instruction, and student support
- Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and school initiatives
Student Support & Engagement
- Monitor student progress and provide targeted support as needed
- Serve as a key point of contact for student academic development
- Support extracurricular activities and broader school programming as needed

Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- Eligibility for MSDE certification in English (or ability to obtain a conditional license)
