Role Description
The Scrap is looking for a creative and motivated Intern (Content Creation, Social Media) to join our expanding team in the combat sports and entertainment space.
This role is designed for individuals who want hands-on experience in modern sports media, with opportunities to contribute across writing, social media, video content, design, and partnerships.
We are building a personality-driven media brand focused on MMA, pro wrestling, and internet sports culture. Interns will play an active role in shaping content, covering major events, and helping grow The Scrap across platforms.
Responsibilities may include:
- Creating and distributing content across social media platforms (Instagram, Threads, TikTok, X, Facebook)
- Writing news, analysis, and editorial content
- Producing video content, including short-form clips, scripts, and interviews
- Assisting with graphic design and visual content (thumbnails, social posts, promotional assets)
- Supporting sponsorships and partnership outreach
- Contributing ideas for coverage, storytelling, and audience engagement
This is a collaborative role where interns are encouraged to explore multiple disciplines based on their strengths and interests.

- Familiar with social-first and digital-native content formats
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, trend-driven environment

- Comfortable covering live events and breaking news, including availability during evenings and weekends depending on role and event schedules

Qualifications
- Strong writing and communication skills with a focus on storytelling, clarity, and engaging digital-first content
- Experience creating or contributing to content across social media platforms (Instagram, Threads, TikTok, X, Facebook), with an understanding of trends and audience engagement
- Ability to write or produce content in at least one of the following areas: news, analysis, opinion, video scripts, or social-first storytelling
- Familiarity with digital media creation tools (content scheduling platforms, basic design tools, or editing software is a plus)
- Strong interest in combat sports, pro wrestling, and broader pop culture, with an understanding of online fan communities and trends
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment with minimal direction
- Interest or experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred, including social media growth and strategy, editorial writing and sports media coverage, video content creation, editing or on-camera work, graphic design, thumbnails or visual storytelling, and sponsorships, partnerships, or brand outreach.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Journalism, Communications, Media, Marketing, Design, or a related field (not required but preferred).
- Academic credit available for eligible students .
