What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher position at The School Psychologists?
We have an incredible charter school district in the Bennington Vermont area looking to add several Special Education Teachers to their teams for the 25/26 School Year (& beyond)!
We welcome applications from experienced candidates, recent graduates AND those graduating in Summer 2026 in Education, Teaching, or related fields of study.
Some highlights of the role:
- Assure compliance of district policies and procedures, child care licensing and Act 166 regulations.
- Implement evidence based practices for young children including development and maintenance of a high quality early education environment in accordance with ECERS-R guidelines.
- Provide evidence based developmentally appropriate effective instruction aligned to the VELS, and coordinate quality services for young children and their families.
- Provide consultation, mentoring and support for early care and education providers with tasks such as curriculum planning, assessment, observations, data collection and analysis.
- Develop and maintain collaboration with colleagues, appropriate community agencies and early care and education providers.
- Coordinate transition opportunities for children entering kindergarten within the SVSU.
- Partner with parents to enhance children’s early learning through regular parent communication and by organizing parent involvement opportunities.
- Participate in developmental screenings throughout the year for children birth to 5.
About You
- Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood or early childhood special education
- Must have or be eligible to obtain professional educators license in Vermont with endorsement in early childhood and /or early childhood special education.
- Two or more years experience in early childhood, early childhood special education, or programs for children at – risk.
- Two or more year’s experience mentoring, consulting or supervising others and working as part of a team.
- Experience teaching children in an inclusive, family centered, community based setting.
- Dual certification in early childhood education and early childhood special education preferred.

Pay: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour
