What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary School Teacher position at The School for Young Performers?
The School for Young Performers is looking for a dynamic and seasoned elementary school teacher for several students that will be traveling for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year. The educator will work in an innovative, creative and fluid classroom construct. Hours are day-time, thus this is not an after-school position; the start date is late March/early April, with an end date in late June. The educator will be expected to teach full-time in-person. Preference will be given to teachers with a solid K-5 background and strong ability to teach across all core subject areas (math, science, English Language Arts, Social Studies) for Grades 1 - 4; Spanish Language skills are a huge plus. The teacher will be traveled to Texas and/or New Mexico for the remainder of the school year, and all travel costs will be covered by the client family. There is the opportunity to be given a contract for the full 2024-2025 school year, which will involve extensive travel (domestic and international).

Ideal candidates must have the following:
- A MINIMUM of 5 years experience teaching Grades 1 - 5, preferably in a private school setting
-Teaching certification, preferably K-5
-Fluency in an additional language is a plus!
-Literacy specialization, preferably with training in Orton Gillingham and/or Wilson
-Familiarity with Writing Revolution, CKLA, Math in Focus/Singapore Math, SAVVAS series for social studies and/or science
-Understanding of accelerated/gifted/differentiated learning and PBL
-Expertise/training in and experience working with students with learning differences such as ADHD, giftedness, and attentional and/or anxiety issues
-Conscientious, patient, compassionate, flexible and professional
-Strong handle on keeping pace with curriculum, comfortable with creating lesson plans, assessments, projects and tests
-Can easily go back and forth between different subjects with a symbiotic emphasis
-Experience working 1-on-1, small group classes or in homeschool constructs
-SEL/Mindfulness training
-Familiarity with flipped classrooms, NextGen lab practices strongly preferred
-Ability to create interdisciplinary activities (i.e. competitive task work, STEAM projects, geography deep dives)
- Available between 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Mon-Fri (approx; this is a full-time exempt teaching position)
- Have a personal laptop with email/MS Office AND a cell phone with access to email
- Be a United States citizen with proper U.S. government documentation OR have a valid green card with permission to work in the U.S.
