Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Transportation Management, Logistics, Business Administration or closely related field.
• Six years of relevant job-related experience in transportation operations, logistics, or fleet management.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
• Valid Florida commercial Class B (CDL) driver’s license with School Bus (S), Passenger Vehicle (P), and Air Brake endorsements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Florida commercial Class B (CDL) driver’s license with School Bus (S), Passenger Vehicle (P), and Air Brake endorsements.
• Supervisory or management experience.
• Transportation experience in a large public school district.
• Experience in a unionized workforce.
• Experience supervising personnel, scheduling, and route operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to transportation.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
• Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of employees, administration, students, and the community.
• Ability to think critically and make clear, well-reasoned and timely decisions.
• Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing guidance and motivation while establishing goals and expectations of accountability.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and environments.
• Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and learn new applications and systems.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Oversee and manage bus drivers and attendants, providing guidance, performance feedback, and addressing staffing issues or disputes.
• Ensure buses operate safely and efficiently, adhering to all district, state, and safety regulations.
• Assist with creating, maintaining, and monitoring bus schedules to ensure routes are covered on time.
• Monitor daily transportation operations, promptly addressing service issues to maintain high-quality service.
• Communicate expectations clearly, support staff development, and maintain accurate records of operations, staffing, and incidents.
• Coordinate with other supervisors, school administrators, and transportation staff to resolve operational issues.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
