Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of experience in safety, risk management, mental health, or counseling.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience managing business/department functions and staff.

Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills; flexibility and adaptability in dealing with rapidly changing priorities and demands.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local statutes, laws, regulations, rules, policies, procedures, and current research-based best practices governing public education and the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Knowledge of case management and data collection tools and techniques.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems and develop effective responses and solutions to resolve such problems.
  • Ability to be a self-starter with documented results in building new programs and working simultaneously on a variety of projects.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment and remain organized to complete time-sensitive jobs on or before deadline.
  • Ability to serve in a lead role, oversee employees, and resolve conflicts in the Director’s absence.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct threat assessment team meetings to assist schools with implementation of a multi-disciplinary approach to identify and support students who present a potential risk of violence/aggression, self-harm, or other self-destructive behavior.
  • Serve as the case manager for students referred to school threat assessment teams.
  • Locate and accurately review all documentation and track substantive cases for each student referred to school threat assessment teams in order to determine the events and identify individuals associated with the case.
  • Coordinate resources to ensure appropriate support is provided for each student referred to school threat assessment teams.
  • Maintain an accurate and current tracking system to facilitate case management and tracking of each student referred to school threat assessment teams.
  • Lead the promotion, implementation, and coordination of the behavioral threat assessment tracking system training program for District employees and law enforcement.
  • Lead the development, promotion, implementation, and coordination of the threat assessment team training programs for District employees.
  • Coordinate appropriate notifications when approaching critical due dates to help ensure the successful and timely achievement of District goals for each student referred to school threat assessment teams.
  • Establish, disseminate, retrieve, and maintain all related records in the appropriate physical or electronic files/folders as required by District policy in a timely manner.
  • Provide proactive leadership in the preparation of required reports.
  • Locate, tabulate, and accurately compile statistical data in a timely manner and submit final versions to appropriate personnel proactively and as requested.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with District and school personnel and staff from outside agencies applicable to threat assessment case management.
  • Provide ongoing, proactive leadership in the evaluation of the effectiveness of existing threat assessment programs and procedures.
