We are seeking a mission-aligned, senior fundraising leader to serve as Chief Development Officer (CDO). This person extends a legacy of the foundation created which successfully and positively impacts pro-life. This is a high-impact opportunity for a strategic, relational, and execution-focused development executive to expand philanthropic revenue, deepen donor engagement, and build systems that create a sustainable fundraising engine which advances life-affirming care for women, men, and families across Oregon.


The CDO will partner directly with the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership to grow major gifts, strengthen donor retention, develop new donor pipelines, and align fundraising strategy with the organization’s short and long-term vision. The right candidate will be both strategist and closer, with the ability to build the plan, cultivate trust, make the ask, and steward donors with excellence.


WHAT YOU WILL LEAD


  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy across major gifts, annual giving, donor acquisition/retention, foundations, corporate/church partnerships, events, planned giving, and future campaign initiatives.
  • Personally manage and grow a portfolio of major donors and prospects through discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Partners with CEO, COO, Internal Colleagues, and Board to strengthen donor relationships (retention), open new doors, and build a culture of philanthropy across the organization.
  • Build donor pipeline discipline, moves-management practices, stewardship rhythms, revenue forecasting, and fundraising dashboards.
  • Primary fundraising channels, such as; donor letters, banquets, major donor events, donor meetings, and community events.
  • Lead the development function, mentor team and translate organizational impact into compelling donor messaging, proposals, reports, and case-for-support materials.


WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YEAR ONE


  • A clear 12-month development plan with revenue goals, donor strategies, timelines, and accountability measures.
  • A qualified major donor pipeline with increased face-to-face donor engagement and documented next steps.
  • Stronger donor retention, stewardship, donor upgrade strategies, and improved CRM/reporting discipline.
  • Improved fundraising engagement, including tools, donor strategy support, and regular reporting.


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE


  • 7–10 years of progressive fundraising, advancement, nonprofit leadership, or related revenue-generation experience.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Demonstrated success securing major gifts, managing donor portfolios, building long-term relationships, and meeting revenue goals.
  • Experience partnering with CEOs, Boards, and senior leaders to advance philanthropic priorities.
  • Strong understanding of cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, moves management, CRM systems, and fundraising metrics.
  • Excellent written, verbal, relational, and executive communication skills; comfortable making direct financial asks.
  • Strong leadership, operational organization and strategic planning skills.
  • Experience in healthcare, pregnancy resource centers, life-affirming ministries, faith-based nonprofits, or community-based organizations is strongly preferred.

COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:


  • Solid knowledge of computer operations; with proficiency utilizing the Office 365 Suite, with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (with expertise in Excel as an analytical tool and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Donor Management Software; especially Virtuous


OTHER:


  • Maintains professional behavior and appearance.
  • Attends meetings and trainings as required and needed.
  • The proven ability to meet the demands of traveling, relationship development, and goal setting, in person visits, presentations and communications.
  • Travel outside the area will be required, as necessary.
