We Are Currently Recruiting For The Position Of
The DEPT. SPECIALIST, (SEAFOOD is an integral part of a highly motivated team focused on serving guests with an emphasis on the overall Seafood/meat and Fresh Store guest experience to consistently meet or exceed guest expectations.
The DEPT. SPECIALIST, (SEAFOOD is a main point of contact for all seafood product.Actively engaging and educating guests regarding a variety of seafood & fresh water options, cooking, seasoning and marinating techniques, handling techniques (raw & cooked), product texture, and places of origin (international and local).Advises guests on seafood selections with respect to cooking, grilling, and pairing with a variety of foods and beverages. Oversees seafood handling standards, food display preparation, and merchandise inventory optimization.
The DEPT. SPECIALIST, (SEAFOOD creates a remarkable guest experience by exemplifying expertise, attention to detail and providing exceptional product knowledge. The Specialist is responsible for practicing safe food handling procedures, and handles all products in a safe, sanitary manner and keeps all areas and equipment of the department clean.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills And Abilities)
Experience : Two years Meat/Seafood Department experience; specialist seafood experience is preferred
Other : Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours
Physical : Basic office and store environment:ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, use stairs, reach, pull and lift objects

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Provide guests with a remarkable shopping experience by greeting and thanking guests in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner, answering questions, responding to guest requests for seafood products and offering event planning suggestions
- Responsible for working under the Meat Manager in order to ensure the success of the store and department through excellent guest service and a demonstrated passion for food.
- Assist with achieving department financials (sales, profit and loss, budgets) by implementing best practices and optimization strategies
- Support the department’s merchandising plan and implementation, providing innovative solutions, emphasizing “fresh”
- Manage product rotation, spoils, shrink, and markdowns per company policy
- Oversee product schematic implementation, stocking and presentation standards, item tag integrity, country of origin standards, back room organization, and department inventory accuracy
- Accountable for department’s overall cleanliness/conditions
- Assist with ordering product (utilizes order/inventory system, pre-orders, promotion/seasonal planning)
- Contribute to overall store conditions (to include store safety, food safety, sanitation, hazardous waste, protection of company assets, etc.) ensuring a safe working and shopping experience
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills And Abilities)
- Passionate about food and seafood to include seasoning and marinating techniques and an understanding of salt and fresh water species
- Product ordering, inventory control, meat and seafood operations, merchandising, sales techniques, and a strong understanding and knowledge of seafood varieties both salt and fresh water species
- Learn and retain policies and procedures, make decisions, lead and instructs team members, recognize sale trends and indicators, work within and promote a team environment
- Strong organization, administration (to include department financial) and math skills
- Knowledge of department operations; seafood, fish and pre-packaged products; special product needs that arise for seasons/holidays; trends in cooking and recipes that effect demand; department food safety and hazardous materials rules/regulations; visual merchandising techniques
- Familiarity with use and care of professional cutlery, wrapping equipment and other department related tools
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Must be highly functional in a team environment and have strong cooperation and team building attributes, demonstrate an eagerness to learn and take on new tasks and challenges
