Schedule/Hours:
Part-time; 12 Hours/Week
Wednesdays: 6PM - 8:30PM
Fridays: 7PM - 9:30PM
Saturdays: 10AM - Noon
Sundays: 9AM - 2PM
This position is responsible for:
Under the general direction of the Corps Officer, the Youth Activities Coordinator plans, develops, schedules, coordinates, facilitates, and monitors a variety of recreational activities, events and trips to meet the needs and interests of specific groups participating in The Salvation Army programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans, promotes, coordinates, and facilitates activities on a regular basis to include recreational, entertaining, educational, and/or devotional topics. Prepares posters, flyers, and/or press-releases to promote activities and encourage participation. Directs the set-up and clean-up work needed for all programs and activities.
- Monitors all activities to ensure needs of special interest groups are met and to ensure compliance with established activity plans as well as The Salvation Army policies and procedures.
- Assists patrons by responding to questions in-person and over the telephone regarding the scheduling of activities; provides general information and instructions of participation. Records and maintains statistical information regarding activities and participants.
- Transports patrons to/from activities and/or special trips to places of interest.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to type and keypunch information into a computer. Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically. Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, typewriter, computer, and adding machine. Work is performed in a combination of office and field settings. Frequently required to sit and reach; and must be able to move around the work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work will typically be indoors in a heated and air-conditioned office or location, with a mixture of natural, incandescent and fluorescent light with moderate noise levels or be subject to working conditions. Work may require performance of duties where exposure to communicable and infectious diseases are possible. Use of a computer is required; and the ability to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate activities is required.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. AND
- Six months experience planning and coordinating recreational activities; OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License and must meet TSA MVR Requirements
