The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a part-time morning shift Welcome Desk Associate for the Kroc Augusta, located in Augusta, GA. Hours are 4:45am to 10:00am.
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for creating exceptional customer service experiences. Primary responsibilities include selling and/or verifying memberships, program registrations, and Kroc merchandise through a POS system as well as providing facility information and tours, answering, and routing all incoming calls.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission and ministry; knowledge of sales and customer service; knowledge of excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task; ability to be self- motivated and goal oriented; ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner; ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude in working with customers, clients, members, and staff; ability to empathize and communicate with low-income and vulnerable people; ability to work independently as well as part of a team; ability to learn new computer systems; ability to maintain a friendly and professional attitude and approach to problem solving; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain positive and cheerful under pressure; ability to use/operate general office equipment including computer, digital camera and radio system; ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and 1-2 years of cashier/customer service experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
None
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements; ability to read, write, and communicate the English language; ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.; work is performed in an environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with dust, dirt, and the like: work will be attending to a front desk and may require standing for extended periods of time; work will involve periods of walking while conducting facility tours; work is performed in a fast paced environment and includes frequent phone and in person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused or frustrated.
