Position Summary
The Salvation Army Northern Division Twin Cities Social Services Director is responsible for oversight of assigned social services programs throughout the 10 County metro area. The Director is also responsible for supporting other Twin Cities locations with onboarding, training, and support. The Director will focus on personnel, programmatic standards, compliance, fund development, seasonal programming, and training.
Essential Functions
- Guide and support the Twin Cities Social Services programs. Provide oversight for compliance and grant management, ensure high quality staff training and development, and grow excellent social services programs. (25%)
- Supervise Twin Cities 360 Life Centers and other assigned personnel/offices, ensuring supportive services to participants, fiscal responsibility, and licensing/grant compliance. (25%)
- Ensure consistent staff training and development for assigned locations throughout the 10 County Metro in areas not limited to Pathway of Hope (POH), Emergency Assistance (EA), HeatShare (HS), and Seasonal programming. (15%)
- Collaborate with Twin Cities Social Services programs, POH, grants and contracts, personnel, property, and the finance department to ensure compliance (e.g., licensing, regulations, grants, contracts, internal/external reporting). (15%)
- Support seasonal and special events. (10%)
- Liaison between Divisional Social Services and POH/EA/HS-focused legislative advocacy groups. (5%)
- Represent and promote The Salvation Army through the community; establish, maintain, and strengthen stakeholder partnerships with the city, county, state, and contractors. (5%)
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Organization Management, or similar strongly preferred. In lieu of a Master’ degree, a bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience may be considered.
- Five (5) of more years of related experience, including at least five years of supervisory and administrative experience.
- Previous success in upper-level management; community relations and marketing; financial budgeting, forecasting, and reporting; and grant compliance.
- Pass background checks, possess a valid driver’s license, and meet MVR driver’s qualifications.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Provide supervision, mentorship, and training directly to the leadership of the Twin Cities 360 Life Centers and assigned social services offices.
Travel Requirements
Regular local travel throughout the Twin Cities in agency vehicle or personal vehicle if MVR approved. Occasional travel throughout the Division.
