ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:
This position is responsible for:
Under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Truck Driver drives Salvation Army trucks along scheduled routes to pick up donations and/or deliver merchandise to Thrift stores.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operates the truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations.
- Lifts, carries, loads, and unloads various donations to include furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.
- Ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.
- Assists in performing other duties in the thrift store and warehouse.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- The working environment is a warehouse without air condition and with a cement floor where a majority of the day is spent. Temperatures vary from approximately 30 degrees in the winter to 100 degrees in the summer. There is an air-conditioned room in the warehouse for the storage of equipment and office space. Position involves going in and out of the air-conditioned space into the warehouse throughout the day.
- Ability to lifts scales, hand trucks, forklifts and dollies
- Ability to meet attendance requirements
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language
- Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations
- Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking
- Ability to occasionally lift boxes of donations

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required; one (1) year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van such as a box truck; OR
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid State Driver’s License required; CDL preferred but not required. Able to pass a DOT physical.
- Approved Background Check and Motor Vehicle Request, required.
