ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
Schedule: Part-time, M-TH from 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM
This position is responsible for:
Provides tutoring and educational instruction for school-age children; assists children with completing homework assignments, preparing for tests, and learning basic computer skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching Responsibilities (70%)
- Provides individualized tutoring and educational instruction to school-age children in an emergency shelter environment.
- Provides computer training and education for children in an emergency shelter environment that are school age.
Child Care Responsibilities (30%)
- Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure and healthy manner.
- Ensures the accountability, security and safety of children participating in tutoring activities; reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
- Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25lbs) 5-10% of the time.
- Work is usually performed in a normal classroom environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education or related field, AND
- No prior experience required, OR
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
- Valid Teacher’s Certificate for the State of Texas
