What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Employee (4961) position at THE SALVATION ARMY?
Schedule/Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am - 4pm
This position is responsible for:
Leading children’s activities at a day camp including classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, bible study, computer programs and specialized programs. This position also prepares and serves children lunch and snacks and assists in leading field trips.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
- Develops and implements lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities.
- Ensures the accountability, security and safety of children participating in camp activities and field trips, and reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
- Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required AND
- two year’s experience teaching child development programs in a church OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid state driver's license
- C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
