What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Events Assistant (6330) position at THE SALVATION ARMY?
Schedule/ Hours: Mon - Sat 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (29 hours per week)
This position is responsible for:
Serves as a host for special events by providing exceptional customer service to guests. Sets tables; decorates event rooms; sets-up and breaks-down tables, chairs, and other food service event equipment. Supports preparation and serves meals and snacks in accordance with established requests, guidelines and schedules; supports the kitchen staff and performs routine tasks to ensure all meals are served in a safe and presentable manner; cleans dining facilities, fixtures, equipment and appliances; maintains inventory of supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represents the Kroc Center at various internal events, parties, conferences, programs, etc.; maintains a positive and professional relationship with members and visitors as a representative of The Salvation Army.
- Cleans and prepares a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies in accordance with acceptable and economical cooking methods.
- Sets tables with plates, napkins and utensils or sets up buffet line for self-service.
- Cleans tables, chairs, floors, dishes, utensils and kitchen appliances; maintains a high degree of cleanliness in the dining room.
- Washes, dries, and stores pots, pans, plates, glasses, cups, bowls, and utensils. Sweeps and mops kitchen and vacuums dining room floors
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.

Duties are performed standing and requires squatting, climbing, bending and walking. Any of the preceding duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting.

Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light to heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) frequently.

Work will normally be performed in a kitchen environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in temperature associated with cooking and the kitchen environment.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, And
- One year experience working in a customer service related position with food prep experience preferred,Or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
- Food Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe) Valid State Driver’s License.
