What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Services Assistant (4550) position at THE SALVATION ARMY?
Schedule/Hours: M-F 9:00 am - 3:00 Pm (29 hours per week)
This position is responsible for:
Assists the lead social service worker in providing social service assistance to eligible clients in the following areas: food, lodging, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance; interviews clients to determine need and eligibility to receive services; prepares accurate and complete client records; and provides food pantry and clothing closet assistance to clients.
Key Responsibilities: (80%)
- Assist the reconnect supervisor with program changes and Implementation
- Facilitates educational and group sessions in relation to the treatment and recovery of substance abuse using a multi- disciplinary team approach
- Serves as liaison to other agencies to obtain/ coordinate assistance on the client's behalf; builds and maintains professional working relationships with the community
- prepares and files clients' records promptly, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date
Administrative Responsibilities: (20%)
- Prepares and maintains statistical records on all services provided; complies and prepares monthly statistical reports; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
- Answer the telephone courteously and tactfully; assist clients by providing accurate and complete information
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions;
- Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
- Limited amount of physical effort required associated withwalking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25lbs), 5-10% of work time
- Work is performed in a normal office enviroment ehere there is little or no physical discomfort associated with changes in weather or discomfort is associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. And
No prior experience required, or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
Valid State Driver's License (Preferred)
