What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker & Groundskeeper (6062) position at THE SALVATION ARMY?
Schedule/Hours: Casual
This position is responsible for:
Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performs routine groundskeeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work; regularly cleans building and sanitizes as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mows grass and edges lawns, sidewalks, and curbs; cleans debris.
- Cuts-down trees; trims trees and bushes.
- Ensures proper maintenance of grounds keeping equipment; lubricates mowers and tractor fittings; installs tractor tires as needed.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting.
- Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects (25-50 lbs.).
- Physical ability to "team lift" heavy materials, supplies and equipment (50-100 lbs) occasionally.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
- Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions.
Work requires working with cleaning chemicals and may involve discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
Qualifications:- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- AND Two years of experience in handling minor building and maintenance repairs and good skill in the use of hand, lawn, and power tools,
- OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid State Driver’s License
Bulldozer Certification
