About This Opportunity
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a part-time Kitchen Assistant for the Birmingham Area Command, located in Birmingham, AL.
Pay: $10/hr
We have two positions available!
Schedule:
(1) Monday - Friday 6:30am - 1pm with a one-hour lunch break (29 hours a week) (Must have weekend availability)
(2) Weekend, early morning, and evening availability is a plus!
JOB SUMMARY:
Cleans kitchen equipment and washes dishes; sweeps, mops, and waxes floors. Assists in serving meals ensuring appropriate proportions are provided. Stocks foods, beverages, and supplies in an orderly and safe manner. Empties trash cans. Pay starts at $10/hr.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
One year experience working in a kitchen
preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
What We Look For In You
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of cleaning practices, methods, and techniques.
Ability to assist in the preparation and presentation of meals.
Ability to wash dishes and kitchen appliances.
Ability to clean the kitchen and dining area.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works is performed in a normal kitchen environment where there may be limited physical discomforts associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers. Duties are usually performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting.
