What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Monitor (5943) position at THE SALVATION ARMY?
This position is responsible for accepting and processing residents staying in the shelter overnight, monitoring the activity of residents, and maintaining accurate and complete records.
Key responsibilities:
- Checks clients into the shelter; prepares and monitors client intake cards; determines if client has been prepaid by sponsor or credit; prepares resident roster and maintains resident property records.
- Ensures that all rooms are in proper order before and after arrival of residents; checks fire equipment and ensures proper working order.
- Completes required paperwork representing client intake for the day; inputs data into the computer in order to maintain computer records and generate client lists; prepares, tallies, and balances monies with receipts; drops the money in the safe.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. AND
- one year experience performing security work or working in a social service environment, OR
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
