What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver (DOT Certified) (5311) position at THE SALVATION ARMY?
Job Description: Under the direction of the Corps Officers, drives Salvation Army owned DOT regulated vehicle or truck (GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more) loading and unloading routine pickups and/or deliveries of material, donated or otherwise, to serve production needs of the general operation of corps.
Or,
Drives a Salvation Army DOT regulated vehicle in order to transport passengers to and from various locations; ensures the vehicle meets the scheduled maintenance and performs operator’s maintenance in accordance with established standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving Responsibilities (50%)
- Donations Pick-Ups and Deliveries Responsibilities (30%)
- Vehicle Maintenance Responsibilities (20%)
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively.
- Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
- Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle safely observing all laws, regulations, and policies.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. AND
- Prior experience driving a box truck, OR
- any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Certifications:
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Valid Class B CDL
- CPR & First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
